State Bar President Ivy N. Cadle

Ivy N. Cadle was installed as the 62nd president of the State Bar of Georgia on June 8, 2024. This followed Ivy’s service as the State Bar’s president-elect, treasurer and secretary.

Born and raised in Swainsboro, Ivy graduated cum laude in 2000 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in biology, and a Master of Accountancy in 2002. He earned his law degree from Mercer University Law School in 2007. Ivy is an adjunct professor at Mercer Law where he teaches Accounting for Lawyers and where on May 11, he had the honor of delivering the commencement address to its Class of 2024. In 2023, Ivy received Mercer University School of Law’s Young Alumni Council Volunteer of the Year Award.

Before law school, Ivy served as an audit associate at KPMG’s Atlanta office where he traveled across the southeast counting everything from Gulfstream jets to tractor parts and chicken eggs. He is a certified public accountant.

Ivy started his legal career in Macon as an associate with Baker Donelson. Now the Office Managing Shareholder for Baker Donelson’s offices in Macon and Atlanta, he litigates complex business issues surrounding real estate, eminent domain, land use, zoning and conservation easements. Ivy is a member of The Counselors of Real Estate, an international association of trusted advisors who solve complex real estate problems.

Ivy’s Bar service began as a Middle District Representative on the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Representative Council. He later became the president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Macon Bar Association, the Macon Bar Association and the William Augustus Bootle Inn of Court.

His service to the State Bar YLD was recognized in 2013, 2014 and 2022 with Awards of Achievement. Ivy was twice the co-chair of the YLD’s Leadership Academy. He was elected to serve the Macon Circuit, Post 3 on the State Bar’s Board of Governors in 2017; elected to the Executive Committee in 2019 and to secretary in 2021.

Ivy lives in Macon, Georgia, with his wife of nearly 22 years, Leslie Cadle, and their chocolate lab Stella. When he is not practicing law or volunteering, Ivy enjoys cooking, golf and yardwork. He is also a pilot, and he currently holds a multi-engine commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating.
